Keep Your Laptop for Longer

Support for Windows 10 expires on October 14, 2025. If you’re a Windows 10 user, it will be unsafe to keep using your computer and you may be forced to buy a new one.

Good news – if you bought your machine after 2010, then chances are we can help you keep using it for many years to come by installing Linux Mint. This is free software that safely runs your computer instead of Windows, and it is very easy for existing Windows users to use.

Free Linux Café

Edinburgh Linux Café is a group of IT professionals that want to help people save money – and reduce electronic waste along the way.

We can help you:

  • Try out Linux Mint for the first time without installing anything on your computer
  • Install Linux Mint if you decide you want it (You can keep Windows too and then choose which one to start when you turn on the computer)
  • Transfer your files
  • Install your favourite software and show you how to keep it updated

This is a drop-in event. Come along at any time from 10am to 12:30pm with your laptop and any chargers that it needs to operate.

Please book a free ticket so we know how many people to expect.

We publish events and consultations in our calendar which we hope will be of interest to our members and supporters. We strive to be accurate in these listings, so please contact us if you see an error or problem. The organisers of third-party events (coded blue) are mostly unconnected to us, and we have no control over these.

If you know of an event that you would like to see listed here, please let us know.
