Take One Action believes in the power of film and storytelling to create collective change. This year’s festival is taking place in Edinburgh 17-21 Sep and is themed around ‘real utopias’, highlighting existing projects and movements that are seeds of utopian futures, and exploring how to build upon them locally. There are 11 films over 7 events, and each event will also have a “beyond the screen” element, with local experts and filmmakers invited to discuss the issues presented in the films.
Some of the issues explored are labour unions, renters rights, decolonisation, the moral complications of tech & AI, trans rights, climate change, and migration, with films from Scotland, Kenya, the US, Mexico and more. You can find a full list of events on the Take One Action website.
All of the events are pay-what-you-can (£0-20) and you can find further information about the access provisions (including descriptive subtitles for all films) here.
We publish events and consultations in our calendar which we hope will be of interest to our members and supporters. We strive to be accurate in these listings, so please contact us if you see an error or problem. The organisers of third-party events (coded blue) are mostly unconnected to us, and we have no control over these.
If you know of an event that you would like to see listed here, please let us know.
