What’s it like being a Green councillor?
In the run up to our selection process for the 2027 City of Edinburgh Council elections, the Green Councillor Group in Edinburgh are holding a series of workshops to explain more about what it means to be a councillor and why you should think about putting yourself forward.
Before the holidays we held two workshops in person, and we are now repeating these online for anyone who missed one or both of them.
The first of these two online workshops will be on Tuesday 27th January via Zoom, and we will be covering the difference a Green councillor can make (highlighting what you can achieve for your community and the city) and what’s on a Green councillor CV (delving into the skills and experiences you can gain as a councillor).
Email council2027.edin@scottishgreens.org.uk to register for the event.
We particularly encourage women, people of colour, disabled people, LGBT+ people, young people and any other groups who have been historically underrepresented to join us to find out more.
We have also created a Candidate Community WhatsApp group which you are welcome to join to ask any questions about the selection process or being a councillor, and we will also be keeping our 2027 selections webpage updated over the coming months with FAQ documents and other guidance.
We publish events and consultations in our calendar which we hope will be of interest to our members and supporters. We strive to be accurate in these listings, so please contact us if you see an error or problem. The organisers of third-party events (coded blue) are mostly unconnected to us, and we have no control over these.
If you know of an event that you would like to see listed here, please let us know.
