Have you ever considered standing to be a Green councillor?

Monday 17 November @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

In the run up to our selection process for the 2027 City of Edinburgh Council elections, the Green councillor group in Edinburgh are holding a series of workshops to explain more about what it means to be a councillor, and why you should think about putting yourself forward.

In this second session we will be covering A day in the life of a Green councillor (explaining more about the nuts and bolts of the role and how it can fit with other commitments) and Wellbeing and safety as an elected member (discussing what support is in place to make the role as accessible and inclusive as possible). The workshop will take place on Monday 17th November from 7.30-9pm at the Quaker Meeting House.

We particularly encourage women, people of colour, disabled people, LGBT+ people, young people and any other groups who have been historically underrepresented to join us to find out more. The venue is accessible and you are welcome to bring children if you will struggle for childcare otherwise. The branch are also able to reimburse travel costs to the venue. Please contact us if this would be helpful.

If you are not able to make it in person, we will be running repeat online sessions in January/February. We have also created a Candidate Community WhatsApp group which you are welcome to join to ask any questions about the selection process or being a Councillor, and we will also be keeping our 2027 selections webpage updated over the coming months with FAQ documents and other guidance.

Email council2027.edin@scottishgreens.org.uk to register for the event.
